venmo app redesign
February 2021 - May 2021
Venmo is often used for transactions, but it is not helpful to personal budgeting because:
Captions used in Venmo can be very vague and users often forget what they mean after several months
There is no way to categorize transactions you make in Venmo
Personal budgeting with Venmo transactions requires the use of a third party application to develop usage trends
People use quirky comments or emojis for captions
People don’t use their personal feed
People use third party applications to track spending
People don’t remember what these mean a few months later
Personal feed doesn’t provide enough useful information to warrant time spent looking at it
Information from venmo is put into another application as that application is providing a service venmo doesn’t offer
These opportunity areas are focussed on problems college students face. As a result, they may not encompass all opportunity areas that may exist within the Venmo platform. Additionally, some ideas didn't fit perfectly into any of these four opportunity areas, which could have allowed a more creative opportunity area to be developed.
Narrow Down Solutions
1. Record or categorize all the transactions to manage transactions and generate reports.
2. Budget reminder that sets a time to remind users how much budgets they left.
3. Your story.
4. Design their own avatar.
5. Set a goal.
Suggest users to set a goal and help them to make the plan step by step
Suggest a goal according to calendar or let users to make their customized goal
Save money from budget categories
Scan the price of items before payment
Do not prevent users from spending money even though they may fail the goal; remind them the outcome instead
